2+7: What kind of brands do you carry/have you carried?
The Cast: Our lines, Bitch Club and The Cast. Also, our 3 favorite jewelry lines Bevel, Ayaki Nashi, and Bird Ov Prey.
2+7: What brands do you want to carry in the future?
TC: I would have to say both Sex Trash NYC (lingerie) and Horse + Nail (leather handbags).
2+7: What do you look for when merchandising/choosing designers?
TC: Definitely not the boat shoe with cute shorts kind of look. Its gotta be badass. About 50% of our shop is vintage clothing, boots, and accessories. So if we can pair things up with our own clothing, then it gets the thumbs up.
2+7: Who is your customer?
TC: The Cast has also developed an international following. Known for their custom leather creations all made in New York City, customers have come from as far as Japan to create their own distinctive leather piece. Whether it’s a 20-year old rock-n-roller looking for a white leather vest or a middle-aged financier after a traditional motorcycle jacket, The Cast is the go-to destination offering amazing fits and buttery soft, leather of unparalleled quality. The Cast allows customers to personalize the details from color and texture to buttons, zippers, buckles and belts; each can all be handpicked and made to order.
2+7: Advice for new designers to stand out to store buyers/owners?
TC: Hang on to your night job a little longer. Ha. It’s a tough market to crack, but with a lot of drive and support from your friends, and a few eye-opener pieces…you can shake things up sooner than you think.
